Yes, it's been a long time. I have travelled tons this summer and having been working on a big project (more on that later), hence the lag with the blog.
I was in NYC this summer and spent an afternoon at the MOMA. I had my camera with me and was intrigued by the amount of people taking photos of the art work. As the camera screens were surrounding me, I decided to document my experience in a different way.
Can you name all of the paintings?

Surfilmfestibal-San Sebestian

It's been a while. Just got back from a two week trip to Europe where I had the opportunity to screen Riding The Wave at the Surfilmfestibal in the Basque Country of Spain. It was really a great experience for me. I had the chance to meet some really wonderful people. After the screening of my film, I had the chance to participate in a round table discussion on "Surfing and Sustainability". The participants included Europe's Surfrider Foundation delegate, a rep from the NGO Save The Waves, Surfers Path Editor and several others. We talked about the global corporate culture of surfing and issues related to the enviorment. We're seated as a panel in front of that amazing aquarium. That is where my film was screened. The screen comes down over the glass.
Josh Berry's film Pulp, Poo, and Perfection was also screened with mine. Please check it out. A great film about environmental issues in Chile.
I was able to visit the famous surf spot Mundaka and was able to go surfing at Zarautz. It reminded me a lot of the classic beach breaks of Southern California. The only problem was that I needed an oxygen tank after I got out to the line up. I was so out of shape surfing wise.
My Grandmother's parents came from the Basque Country. I had the chance to do quite a bit of family history work while I was there. This was definitely a highlight of the trip. I also realized how important it is to get out of the country and look at things from a more global perspective. It really opens your eyes. This was a great trip.

Off To Germany
We're off to Dornheim, Germany to film a small documentary at the chapel where Bach was married. This year is the 300th anniversary of the wedding. The town does a re-enactment of the wedding every year. Doug Bush from the music department at BYU will be doing an organ performance in the chapel.

Spring Salon

My wife and I just got back from the 2007 Spring Salon at the Springville Museum of Art. We were blown away by the amount of talent there is here in Utah. Here's just a couple examples of the many fine pieces you'll find there. If you're in the area, definitely check it out.
